Kowtown

by admin on Oct.30, 2009, under Uncategorized

Kissimmee, formerly known as “Kowtown,” has a colorful history. It is known for having the first “drive-up” saloon. Cowboys would ride up to the bar and sit comfortably upon their horses while drinking a cold brew. To this day it is still somewhat of a cattle town. One big heyday is “Rodeo Day.” The event is held in February, schools close for a three-day weekend and the day is kicked off with cattle running down Main Street. Yippee! I am still a Northerner at heart and cannot wrap my head around this. Nevertheless, town officials are striving to keep up with the rest of the country. They have spruced Main Street or Downtown. Outside cafes, hi-rises and country stores line the streets. They even extended hours of operation from 9a to 6p. Patrons have two extra hours to enjoy the ambiance. Cool! I suppose they want to create a “New York, Fifth Avenue Flair” so visitors can feel at home. In spite of everything, Central Florida the hub of tourism, fun and DisneyWorld. Who would ask for anything more?

Greatest Shows

by admin on Oct.28, 2009, under Uncategorized

Hell’s Kitchen” and “So You Think You Can Dance?” two of perhaps four realities that I routinely watch. Since Paula Abdul is no longer a judge on “American Idol,” I will not keep the show on my list. Today, I will look at the finale of “America’s Got Talen,”, lounge around in my usual gear, sandals, shorts and tank top, and enjoy a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia ice cream. This is my fun time in good ole Kissimmee, Florida.

What Type of Dog Collar is Right for You?

by admin on Oct.26, 2009, under Great Posts

There are many types of dog collars which serve many different purposes.  For training, many people choose to use a choke chain. This is a chain which forms a loop around the dog’s neck which tightens as it is pulled. These are very good for training purposes as it lets the dog feel your control and authority over him. However, a choke chain should never be left on a dog as he is running about without a leash, as the end could get caught and hang him or choke him to death. If you need a collar to leave on your dog at all times, as to display his tags, there are many colorful styles to choose from. For larger dogs, a metal clasp as on a belt is best. For smaller dogs which are less likely to pull at their collar there are plastic clasps available. The plastic clasp is easier to buckle and unbuckle, but break fairly easily if pulled on by a larger breed of dog. There are many different options available for large dog collars if you are a new or existing dog owner. The best suggestion is to pick a dog collar that is best suited for your dog. Do you need a collar for fashion? For control or for training? These are the questions you must ask yourself before you begin the search for the collar. If you are after a collar for fashion, there are many choices available. You can pick your choice of color, pattern, style, and materials. Some owners choose to use a bandana for fashion instead of a collar, but this does limit the ability to use a leash. The most common use for a dog collar is for training or control. Make sure that if you are using a collar for this purpose that you choose one that appropriately fits your dog. If it is too small it could cause your dog trouble breathing. If it is too large, your dog could slip out of it. Finally, no matter what reason you choose to put a collar on your dog, just make sure both you and your dog are happy with your choice.

The Chauffer

by admin on Oct.23, 2009, under Uncategorized

My day-to-day life is far from routine or scheduled because I prefer to do things at the spur of the moment. However, taking my grandson to and from school could be considered routine or scheduled. Same time, same channel. Life is too short to bog myself down and deter surprises. Hey, you only live once. Oops! I believe the preceding statement must be retracted. I routinely watch specific reality shows.
