Playing with my dog

My Puppies (which, depending on the breed, can be up to 2 years old) will often be rambunctious and enjoy roughhousing. I will blow children’s soap bubbles for my dog. My dogs love to chase the bubbles, jump and “catch” them in mid-air. They also like wearing different kinds of dog colognes.
How I Found My Dusty

I love my dog, Dusty. I didn’t first meet him until he was already old. It was at the end of college, and I had just rented my first apartment. It was the first time I would be spending the summer living on my own. Since I didn’t want to spend it alone, I decided I needed to find myself a friend. First I went to my local animal shelter. Unfortunately, being a college student at the time, I couldn’t afford the shelter’s fees. So I grabbed a newspaper and hit the classifieds. After a couple of weeks, there it was, and ad for a “Great dog in need of a good home and some decent dog pajamas.” I gave the owners a call, looked up the address, and then borrowed a car. It took several hours to get there, but when I did, I was greeted by the most lovable ten-year-old mutt I had ever seen. He was a little slow waddling around, but he came right up to greet me. I took him home and he’s been great ever since. Even though he’s getting quite long in the tooth these days, I love that mutt.
How I Picked the Breed

When my husband and I decided we wanted a dog, we were unsure of the breed. My husband had never had a dog before in his whole life and I had grown up with hunting dogs. Given that we lived in a city and wanted a dog that could travel with us, we figured that we would have to shop breeds before trying to find a specific dog. We went to a reputable local dog trainer and asked for help. Luckily for us, they had quiet a few different breeds available at the time to show us. We were shown different dogs and fell in love with the Rottweiler breed! Rottweiler’s were large enough to guard, but when they were showing off obedience training they clearly loved the work! Also, they were affectionate and enthusiastic. We told the trainer that we liked that breed and would find a puppy and then be coming back for training. At the same time we looked for a Christmas dog sweater. A few days later the trainer called us and had found such a good litter of puppies that he had bought them and wanted to see if we would like to buy one, assuring us that it was o.k. if we didn’t, since they were great dogs and would sell. We picked out the only male and took him home! It was a good choice!
