Moving to California was a huge step for me. It is more than 2,800 miles away from my home. I had no friends or family in Los Angeles, but took the leap and moved anyway. Since coming to school out here, I have faced my share of difficulties with roommates, school, and illness. Though there have been bad times, there have also been amazing experiences that I could not get anywhere else. Moving so far away from home has showed me a lot about myself and the world, and I am forever shaped by this experience and clearly will never forget it.

All Flights are Cancelled

by admin on Nov.25, 2010, under Uncategorized

My most memorable vacation was my first Spring Break of college. We flew to Orlando to visit and stay with one of our friends from home. He had a gorgeous condo and the weather was amazing, especially since it was below freezing and snowy at home. We went to the beach, and water parks, and on a casino cruise. I ended up winning money on the boat. When it was time for us to leave, the airline had canceled all flights out of Orlando inexplicably. We spent 10 hours in the airport trying to figure out a way to get back to Massachusetts for school, but the earliest they could fly us home was a week later. We got to stay and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather for another week, and the airline gave us vouchers. It was absolutely amazing.

In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing. I am an electrical engineering student, and it is extremely stressful and time consuming. To relax, I will lounge around my apartment and catch up on TV or watch sports with my roommates. I also enjoy going rock climbing with my friends. After we go top-rope climbing, we go bouldering for a little while, and then hop in the hot tub with a nice glass of wine when we get back to our apartment complex. I also try to catch up with my friends from Massachusetts since I go to school in California.
