Snohomish, Washington is a very pleasant city to live in. It is the city that prides itself on the wonderful historic downtown feel. There are even a lot of houses that have plaques stating the year that it was built. Downtown has a wonderful older day antique pleasant feel to it. There is something about taking an afternoon stroll along the main street and browsing at all the old shops. Even then taking the time to venture down to amazing Snohomish River. Snohomish was founded in the year 1858. The original name was Cadyville. At a later date it was decided to change the name of the city to honor the name of a dominant local Native American tribe. The name of the tribe was (sooh-doh-hohbsh) meaning widely disputed. That formed into English form is Snohomish. In 1973 the city adopted a historic ordinance protecting all the historic buildings. This is a very amazing, peaceful city to live in.
